American Beech tree that drops oozing yellow sticky pods...?

I think I've identifiied two trees in my front yard. In the Spring, however, these two trees drop a sticky, pod or seed that has a VERY sticky yellow substance init the color of yellow mustard.They stick to everything from the dog's paws to the bottom of my shoes. The yellow sticky substance is impossibe to get out of clothes. Any ideas?
