Is there a way to get past protected areas in minecraft with hacking? If so could I have some details?

I was wondering about getting past the protection on this one server that is run by a total jerk who griefs everything I make. I know i could just go to the other server I play on but I kind of want a lesson in server hacking. I would probably never use the ability on anybody else. I know that protection is server sided but I saw somebody on another server who was a complete noob who spawned a ton of diamonds and was banned. Spawning stuff is server sided too, so there must be a way. No he wasn't an op so don't even ask.
