No init found. Try passing init=bootarg.?

So I had to force close/shut down my laptop and got the error. I cannot get into the login page of Ubuntu, and get a wall of error mesages. I know its the "No init found. Try passing init=bootarg" problem, and have looked around for a solution. Most require a live cd which i dont have. I installed my copy via download. Any help as to how i can solve this problem without a cd?
